Shinsegae Department Store Main Branch Opens New Horizons in Indoor and Outdoor Topiary Art
October 29, 2006,
At the Shinsegae Department Store main branch in Sogong-dong, Seoul, topiary design has once again undergone a new evolution. The work installed that day was the first attempt to organically integrate indoor exhibition, outdoor landscaping, and emotional production beyond simple sculpture .
In the outdoor space , topiary sculptures in the shapes of pandas, dolphins, and people were placed around the main entrance of the department store, providing a unique experience of encountering nature in the middle of the city, and in the indoor 'Shinsegae Royal Garden' space, a complex space was created where a variety of sensibilities came together, including mannequin displays, moss panels, floor planter interiors, and red carpet atmospheres .
In particular, this project is significant in that it is the first case of expanding topiary from a simple garden decoration to a storytelling tool for a high-end retail brand , and it has opened up a new genre that transforms the interior of a department store into an emotional exhibition space .
Through this installation, Shinsegae Department Store has made a decisive contribution to expanding the spectrum of domestic topiary art by providing customers with a brand experience that goes beyond simple shopping and allows them to experience the seasons and senses .
