The Day the Dragon Flies in the Sky, the First Topiary with Traditional Korean Symbols – Yangsuri 2007
March 15, 2007,
In the vast nature of Yangsuri, Gyeonggi-do, a flying dragon has emerged from moss.
On this day, Moss Wall Art created the first topiary sculpture in the history of domestic topiary , ' Flying Dragon ', themed on a traditional Korean symbol .
This project was a difficult task that simultaneously captured traditional beauty and a sense of life by delicately planting moss on the curves of roof tiles, dragon scales, and the soaring curves , and was designed to allow viewers to visually experience a sense of Korean myth and narrative .
This dragon, which soars toward the sky, is not simply a decoration, but was designed as a symbol of prosperity, protection, and life , and the most sophisticated technology was required at the time of its production , in terms of adjusting the curvature of the moss planting and the precision of the frame .
The Yangsuri Dragon Project became the starting point for planning topiary using traditional Korean characters, and became a precedent for new attempts at designing local festivals, tourist attractions, and public sculptures .
