Topiary embracing Jeju’s nature, containing the breath of giants – Natural Jeju 2006

On December 21, 2006, an epic topiary design of unprecedented scale and emotion was created in ‘Natural Jeju’, a space that captures the scenery of Jeju Island.

This project is a three-dimensional large-scale topiary sculpture that resembles a giant lying down and resting , and is the first narrative installation in Korea that combines nature and imagination.

The design of moss and plants flowing gracefully along the curve conveys a soft feeling as if the wind is passing by, and focuses on symbolically expressing Jeju's sea, fields, and sky .

Through this work, 'Natural Jeju' has established itself as a garden that contains a story and a place remembered with emotion, beyond a simple resting place. It is a premium case that simultaneously embodies regionality, artistry, and aesthetics along with the aesthetic beauty of Northern European sensibility , and has since become a model for topiary displays in many domestic tourist destinations, theme parks, and public facilities.

This installation was a decisive turning point for Moss Wall Art to establish a new philosophy called ‘Topiary with a Story’, and is a representative example that clearly shows the direction in which nature becomes art and space becomes a symbol.
