Korea Meteorological Administration, Moss Wall Art that Captures the Flow of Nature Brings Life to Space
– A refined design with a message of change and circulation… Presenting a new aesthetic standard in public buildings
On December 29, 2020, a refined ecological design was added to the Korea Meteorological Administration headquarters in Dongjak-gu, Seoul. Moss Wall Art , a domestic moss art brand, completed a design project that preserves the scientific nature and symbolism of the Korea Meteorological Administration while also adding vitality and warmth to the entire space.
The installed moss wall art is a design that visually embodies the 'flow of nature and the cycle of seasons', metaphorically expressing the core function of the Korea Meteorological Administration, which is the change of weather and climate. In particular, in an era where climate change and environmental issues are on the rise, art utilizing natural materials has garnered attention in that it can function as a tool for delivering messages within public institutions.
A representative of Moswall Art said, “The Korea Meteorological Administration is an organization represented by numbers and data, but through this installation, it has been transformed into a space where one can feel the breath and emotion of nature at the same time,” adding, “It was a meeting of the public interest pursued by a public institution and artistic value.”
This project by the Korea Meteorological Administration later became an opportunity for many national organizations, including the National Police Agency and the National Fire Agency, to adopt moss wall art, and is recorded as a precedent that presented a new standard for public design in government offices.
