Changwon City Naeseo Sports Center, the first sports facility to introduce moss wall art

– Adding emotional relaxation and design value to sports spaces

In February 2023, Changwon City’s Naeseo Sports Center introduced Moss Wall Art for the first time as a sports facility, presenting a new attempt to expand the concept of exercise space. This installation was planned with the goal of transforming it from a simple exercise-focused space into a complex relaxation space that provides emotional stability to citizens.

Moss wall art is installed on the walls of the main resting area and connecting passages in the center, designed to allow people to feel the emotion of nature even in active spaces. The texture and deep color of moss adds soft vitality to the space, effectively alleviating the monotony typical of sports facilities. In particular, materials that are suitable for multi-use facilities and are durable and maintainable were applied.

A Changwon City official said, “This moss wall art installation is a case that takes into account not only the health of local residents but also their psychological satisfaction, and it has become a good precedent for the public nature of a sports facility and its emotional elements to be in harmony.”

Moswall Art said, “Planting nature in a space where exercise and recovery occur together goes beyond simple decoration to suggest the concept of functional rest,” and added, “Starting with the case of Naeseo Sports Center, we hope that emotional design will expand to sports spaces as well.”

This installation marks the first example of nature-based art being incorporated into a public sports facility , and is having a positive impact on the subsequent introduction of design in similar facilities.
