Jumunjin Post Office, Moss Painting… First Application of Stripe Manual Technique in Korea

The moss wall art piece installed at the Jumunjin Post Office in Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, has set a new milestone in the domestic green interior design field.

This work was carried out as a high-difficulty task of planting actual paintings with moss in response to the special request of the customer. To do this , the frame itself was custom-designed , and the inside went through a precise process of planting moss by hand, line by line, using the horizontal division planting method called the stripe technique , which was applied for the first time .

Breaking away from the conventional flat design, this sensory experiment that expresses the brush strokes of a drawing with moss is highly regarded not only for its technical perfection but also for its artistic expressiveness, and it has given a deeper natural beauty and emotional depth to the post office, a space with a strong public and emotional symbolism.

This construction is recorded as the first case in Korea where a public institution has introduced custom-made natural art into its space , and it is expected to remain as a spatial art that combines technology, emotion, and function, and become a standard for future space renewal cases of similar institutions.
